Hundreds of people clad in shroud staged a sit-in against the targeted killings of people belonging to a certain sect on the call of Shia Ulema Council. The protest was held at main Nomaish Chowrangi, M. A. Jinnah Road. The protestors were chanting slogans in favour of their demands and were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans.

Majlis-e-Wahdatul Muslimeen, Jafria Alliance, Imamia Student Organization and other groups participated in the sit-in. Leader of the parties urged the government to end the ongoing targeted killings of innocent people in the city and bring the culprits to justice. However, the protest badly hit the vehicular traffic passing through the Chowrangi, which created gridlock in many areas of the city. Earlier, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi held a protest demonstration against the targeted killings and soaring extortionism in the city.

JI Karachi Chief, Muhammad Hussain Mehnati while speaking to the protestors held the rigged elections responsible for growing lawlessness in the city. He was of the view that unless transparent polls were not held, peace could not be restored in the city.
