Majlis-e-Wahdatul Muslimeen, Jafria Alliance, Imamia Student Organization and other groups participated in the sit-in. Leader of the parties urged the government to end the ongoing targeted killings of innocent people in the city and bring the culprits to justice. However, the protest badly hit the vehicular traffic passing through the Chowrangi, which created gridlock in many areas of the city. Earlier, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi held a protest demonstration against the targeted killings and soaring extortionism in the city.
JI Karachi Chief, Muhammad Hussain Mehnati while speaking to the protestors held the rigged elections responsible for growing lawlessness in the city. He was of the view that unless transparent polls were not held, peace could not be restored in the city.
